Artfare, is a learning and mentorship program launched by Jumblies in 2006 at Jumblies, in response to growing requests for learning opportunities and resources in community arts. Once established in Toronto, in response to increasing invitations from elsewhere in Ontario and Canada, it grew into a suite of portable collaborative learning activities.
Artfare Essentials:
Artfare Essentials is a week-long intensive professional development workshop, introducing participants to community arts principles and practices through a mix of presentation, discussion, immersive art-making, site visits and take-home resources. Artfare Essentials continues to be delivered annually in Toronto and elsewhere, by Jumblies, and independently by Ruth Howard.
Other Workshops: Ruth, Jumblies and other collaborative partners also offer workshops of various durations tailored to suit specific interests and contexts, for example Community Arts Facilitation, Oral History and Art-making, Collaborative Creation, From Story to Stage.
Mentorship: Jumblies sometimes offers paid internship positions and provides mentorship in Community Arts. Ruth Howard offers independent mentorship and consultancy services to artists, projects and organizations.
Resources: Online and print resources for Community Arts are also available on request. Get in touch if interested (ruthhowa@gmail.com).
Contact: If interested in attending a workshop or bringing one to your community contact: ruthhowa@gmail.com or info@jumbliestheatre.org. For more information on Jumblies’ Artfare Essentials and other Artfare offerings click here.
